From the very first day that Werewolf’s Lair has been operational I have had a link to the Bangkok Bar Girls website on my useful links page. I don’t think many people have ever clicked through to look at it.
While I was looking for some information today, I looked at this website, which I hadn’t visited in a long time.
As an introduction to Bangkok farang nightlife this site is hard to beat. It is well organized, well written, and gives lots of useful information. While it doesn’t seem to be kept up-to-the-minute, it does have a ‘fresh’ feel; someone is making sure that on a month-by-month basis it stays pretty current.
One of my favorite features of the site is the Short Time Calculator which is designed to “give you a meaningful estimate of what it will cost you as a customer to have the temporary company of your preferred bargirl.”
The site also includes reviews and ratings of all the bars in Nana Plaza and Soi Cowboy, along with maps of each area to help you locate the exact location of the bar.
People who have lots of experience in the Bangkok nightlife scene will find this site a bit basic and just not current enough, but if you’re planning your first or second trip to Bangkok, and you want to be prepared for the nightlife scene, this website may provide an excellent resource for you ahead of your trip.

Can you explain to me the difference between coyote dancing and go-go dancing.
Are the girls paid differently?
Is the dancing different? Is their floor that they dance on different?
Are coyote dancers freelancers?
Or is it just the the bar can’t get a go-go license and just call it a coyote bar?

I’m not sure I can explain. The owner of the Magic Table has been quoted as saying his bar isn’t a go go bar because it doesn’t have chrome poles.
I’d say that my experience in Bangkok is that on a practical level:
* go go bars have poles; coyote bars don’t
* coyote dancers are high energy dancers with a lot of skill; go go dancers may or may not be talented or energetic
* go go dancers usually dance in bikinis or less; coyote dancers dress in sexy and skimpy clothes, but they are dressed in shorts, etc rather than bikinis
* Coyote dancers are USUALLY employed by the bar where they work and make pretty good money
All that said, I’m no expert. I hope that helps. Maybe someone else knows better than me and can be more exact.

I realize this is a rather old post but I’m curious myself. I’ve seen/been with gogo dancers, but never tried approaching or asking a Coyote girl. Due to their skill(very seductive dancing) and assuming-ly high pay are they barfine’able’ or possible to negotiate for a night?
While on the subject of P4P, are bartenders of bars outside of Nana, Cowboy and Dead Artist(the red zones of BKK) available for barfines? I’m curious and brought this up once on another site, but never got answered. I recall some pretty hot pictures posted on http://bkktonite.com/pix/toxic2/pages/page_9.html (pretty old site not updated enough) So my question is are they available? bartenders,waitresses, etc… at nightlife clubs/bars such as Toxic or Glow?

I can answer vaguely about coyote girls. They are ‘approachable’ but you probably want to talk to them about going dancing or shopping rather than going short time. Trade phone numbers and work them a little bit. I think you’d probably get rebuffed if you offered a bar fine and a tip for a short time at your hotel. If you are a young and handsome man with a smooth tongue, you might get them into bed the first night. Otherwise you may need more of an investment in time.
I haven’t successfully bedded a coyote girl (yet) but I’ve done a mamasan. She was great fun, but again, I took her out dancing first.
I’d say that the same would be true of bartenders elsewhere… get her phone number and invite her out, rather than directly offering to barfine and go short time. If she’s young, attractive, speaks English and is working as a bartender then she’s probably looking for a farang boyfriend (or regular sex with white guys).
In fact, as I type this, there is a bartender in my bed who came to my house last night when she finished her shift at a nearby restaurant. She brought a late dinner for us to eat, used my computer to check her email and chat for a while, then crawled into bed with me around 2 a.m. Today is her day off and she seems content to relax here all day if I don’t kick her out. She’s not a bar girl, but she likes white guys and her goal in life is to marry a farang.
So that adds an “oh yeah” point to the comment above about the difference between go go dancers and coyote dancers:
* Go go dancers are ALWAYS barfinable; coyote dancers usually aren’t.

Thanks for the clarification, I guess the male mind works in mysterious ways. Even though we’re given a plethora of choices in the gogo bars, “the grass is always greener on the other side”. One can’t help but wonder about the girls they are either truly unattainable or perceived this way would be like.
I’m actually not white, but Asian American. So it works mostly against me. I get hit with ridiculously high bids when it comes to barfines and swarmed at gogos. After my second trip, I had gotten quite sick of watching the two step performed by uninterested dancers. Which is why I had brought up the notion of Coyote girls, bartenders and other service types. All three of my trips to BKK this year were pretty much centered around this one bartender at BM, since then we’ve mutually severed the cord so I’m looking to plan options for my next trip to BKK. I was looking into places outside of the bar scene.
P.S I’ve noticed you mention twice about “hansum men” and how they can get away with freebies. I think this is a slight misconception. I mean, sure once in a while a guy might get “lucky”(afterall, that’s where the term was coin’ed) but I think for a majority of farangs in Thailand this is not a high occurrence. I mean these gals are out to earn money. Most of these gals get paid one way or another. I strongly believe nothings free in life, especially sex in (entertainment industry)Bangkok, that’s as definite as death and taxes.

Ahh! I didn’t suggest that a handsome man would get a freebie with a bar girl, I said that if you’re young and handsome you might bed a coyote girls more quickly. After all, they are girls, and if their prime mover isn’t a short time tip then they’ll pick & choose who they want to have sex with. I didn’t even say that a fat old bastard like myself couldn’t bed them, just that it would probably take a greater investment of time.
I think Smitty from Big Mango is a great example of a guy who is good looking, has money in his pocket and speaks reasonable Thai. I think he can succeed where others can’t (though by his own admission he seems to struggle to unlock the secrets of coyote dancers).
I have no illusions about bar girls… they are out to make a living through paid sex. Open your wallet, get laid. Keep your wallet closed, go home and masturbate.
