January 8, 2008Thai language: Pronouns
January 8, 2008Just for fun, I’ve decided to add a new category to my blog titled “Thai language”. In here I’ll put some short items designed for the casual visitor to Thailand who’d like to have a few words or phrases in the local language to impress the girls with.
These items will be short, and focused on simple, easy to learn-easy to remember language.
These items are NOT intended to assist people who know the language or live here full time. They are also NOT intended to teach anyone to speak or read Thai. If you want to learn the language, buy a book, a CD or take a class.
I’m simply trying to entertain, and provide some simple vocabulary that people can retain and use on their next trip to Thialand.
Today’s blog will discuss the use of pronouns.
Pronoun use
Thai pronouns are pretty similar to pronouns in English. The main difference is that English pronouns change between subject and object, while Thai pronouns stay the same.
For example:
I like him = Pom chawb khao
He likes me = Khao chawb Pom
In English, you have to remember I/me and he/him. Thai is much simpler… the pronouns stay the same no matter where you put them.

January 8, 2008Mod Kanlaya Jirachaisakdecha bikini shots
January 8, 2008Wow! Look at the beautiful beach!
Oh, by the way, the girl in the picture is Kanlaya Jirachaisakadecha (nicknamed ’Mod’) who is a Thai singer and model.
To paraphrase the ever-eloquent author Dean Barrett, if she plays her cards right, Mod could be my girlfriend… in fact even if she doesn’t play her cards right she stands an excellent chance.
I’ve added a few more bikini shots of Mod for your viewing pleasure.
Enjoy!
