In 2005 I came to Thailand for the first time. I came on a holiday that lasted for several weeks, from April to June, and saw me visit Bangkok, Laos and Cambodia.
As hard as it may be to imagine, I didn’t know anything about the naughty nightlife of Bangkok before I came here. Until I spent some time on the internet ahead of my trip, I didn’t know anything about Thailand at all.
During my holiday I sent daily reports to my friends & family via email — a sort of private blog.
It occurred to me that it might be interesting for me, and hopefully you as well, to post extracts from those holidays. My plan is to post a series of blogs over several weeks made up of those writings. I may at times interject comments on the original diary entries from my perspective 3 years later.
This is the last entry in the series… I hope you’ve enjoyed it!

After returning from our holiday in Laos, Noi and I slept in at the Landmark hotel in Bangkok. Good intentions of going to the pool or the gym evaporated, as we woke up shortly before 10 am.
A buffet breakfast was on offer, so Noi & I resumed our table from the night before and had a HUGE morning meal, then packed & checked out.

Sort of a two-for-one quote from a Bangkok Post article in which Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm spoke about the political fallout from the decision of former Speaker of the House Yongyuth’s decision to resign from politics:
“What’s for sure is that no one can order the next House Speaker to be elected because none of us are police officers,” he said.
He also denied reports that Mr Thaksin Shinawatra is in no way involved with the PPP.

One of my personal favorite Bangkok websites is called Bangkok Eyes.
It’s well written and filled with GREAT photography. In many ways it succeeds in doing things that I want to do on my own blog but don’t manage to accomplish. I enjoy reading it, and my only real complaint about the site, aside from the font is the fact that it’s published only once a month.
The newest installment was published several hours ago. Visit. Read. You’ll like it. It’s great.
