Back on the 15th of June the Bangkok Pundit published a blog about the Royal Succession that I thought was both interesting an useful.

Today he has published an expansion to the blog.

This is one of the biggest, yet least understood (at least by me) issues in Thailand. If you are intersted in the Royal Succession issues I recommend these two blogs as interesting reading.
IF you aren’t interested in the topic then I’d suggest that you stay as far away as you can.

Many thanks for the very interesting links, still no clearer on the eventual outcome.
Makes for endless political machinations for all parties concerned.
I think it all comes down to this from the 2nd link
“I think the reason is quite simple: it’s considered bad omen to mention the King passing. (I cannot think of any Thai official text mentioning such thing EVER. In other word, there will NOT be such naming as long as the King is alive”

I followed a link on the TFS2M blog and read this bloomberg article. It offers a good politics-101 level summary of the current situation in Thailand. For anyone not conversant with recent Thai history, this would be a very credible way to get a working knowledge in ten minutes.
